Accessibility at the Working Women’s Centre

At the Working Women’s Centre (WWC), we are committed to ensuring our services are welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to everyone visiting our office.

Getting to our office

Our Centre is well serviced by public transport:

  • The closest tram stop is Pirie Street Tram Stop, located approximately 432 metres from the building.
  • The closest train station is Adelaide Railway Station (North Terrace), approximately 900–950 metres away.
  • Closest bus stops within a short walk:
    Stop G2 Wakefield St – North side
    Stop U1 Pulteney St – West side
    Stop G1 Wakefield St – North side – nearby north side of Wakefield St
    Stop T1 Wakefield St – South side – south side of Wakefield St
    Stop E1 Pulteney St – East side – nearby east side of Pulteney St
    Stop U1 Wakefield St – South side – south side of Wakefield St

Additional bus stops a short walk away: Stop D2 Pulteney St – East side, Stop T1 Grenfell St – South side and Stop T2 Grenfell St – South side.

These stops are typically served by multiple Adelaide Metro bus routes that run through the city centre.  For up-to-date services and timetables to these stops, you can use the Adelaide Metro journey planner on the Adelaide Metro website or via transport apps.

 

Parking

On-street paid 2-hour parking is available along Flinders Street.  In addition, there are two accessible blue bay 2-hour (2P) parking spaces directly in front of the building marked with the International Symbol of Access.

There are also paid car parking lots nearby on Roper Street and Divett Place.

Main and accessible entrances

The main entrance to the building at 81 Flinders Street is wheelchair accessible. Step-free access and tactile entry features are available. Public lifts provide access to upper floors, including Level 2, where the Working Women’s Centre is located.

The lifts are directly opposite the building entrance and include Braille buttons and audible floor announcements to assist people who are blind or have low vision.

Braille signage is available on the accessible bathroom signs located on the ground floor near the lifts. Please note that the directional signs throughout the hallways do not currently include Braille.

  • Clearly marked buttons at accessible heights
  • Visual indicators
  • Sufficient space for wheelchair users and mobility aids

Accessing the Working Women’s Centre reception area

Reception is located on Level 2, on the right-hand side as you exit the lifts. Our reception is open during standard business hours, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Please ring the doorbell located to the right of the entrance, and a staff member will let you into the reception area.

The reception is accessed through glass double doors with a clear opening width of 1.80 metres, providing accessible entry to the reception and waiting area.

Guide dogs and support animals are always welcome.
