The Working Women’s Centre SA is currently taking applications for volunteers.
This opportunity would suit feminists who want to connect with a feminist organisation, grow their skills and contribute their ideas and experiences through volunteering.
Applications are due Monday 27th April 2026 at 5pm.
The Working Women’s Centre SA is a non-government organisation and community legal centre, operating out of Adelaide since 1979. We provide free advice, information, support and representation to vulnerable workers residing in South Australia about their rights at work.
We address structural issues experienced on a personal level within and adjacent to workplaces, including sexual harassment and discrimination, gendered violence, exploitation, low pay, wage theft and insecure employment. The three arms of the Working Women’s Centre are legal services, education and advocacy.
We are opening up this volunteer program to help build the skills & capacity of feminist movements, while adding to the capacity of the Working Women’s Centre to work on some exciting and values-aligned projects.
Volunteering at WWC is a flexible time commitment and may depend on the project the volunteer is working on. We anticipate volunteers will come into the WWC office on Flinders Street roughly once per week on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
We have a limited number of volunteer places available, so we unfortunately may not be able to accept everyone who applies. We are not currently able to support Practical Legal Training (PLT) students seeking a legal placement.
Projects that volunteers may help with include:
We welcome diversity and strive to create a safe space for people from many different walks of life to participate. We encourage applications from First Nations people, people of colour, LGBTIQ+ people, people with disabilities, and survivors of gendered violence. Applications are welcomed from women, men and gender diverse people.
Due to funder requirements, all volunteers are required to obtain a Working With Children Check. There is no cost for volunteers applying for a check and we can assist volunteers with applying for one.
We also have a Lived Experience Activist Program for workers who have experienced workplace sexual harassment and wish to contribute their lived experience towards advocacy, education, and the improvement of services. To find out more about this, get in touch by contacting reception@wwc.org.au
The primary aim of this volunteering program is to build skills and capacity. Volunteers will be supported to set goals for their own learning and development, and will receive regular check-ins from a supervisor for coaching and mentorship. Where possible, we will support volunteers to attend events and training opportunities.
You’ll also get to know other like-minded volunteers, and be part of a movement that empowers workers to know their rights and achieve gender equity and safety at work.
As we are a small organisation with few job vacancies, volunteering is unfortunately not a pathway to paid employment at WWCSA. However, we do support volunteers in their job search where relevant, such as by providing a job reference.
Contact us at reception@wwc.org.au with any questions about this program.
