Australian Human Rights Commission Releases Speaking from Experience Report

Cover of the Australian Human Rights Commission’s report titled “Speaking from Experience: What needs to change to address workplace sexual harassment”, dated June 2025. The design shows illustrated figures of diverse people wearing colourful, patterned clothing, standing in front of a white brick wall with a large speech bubble icon. The AHRC logo and website (humanrights.gov.au) appear on the cover.
The Australian Human Rights Commission has just launched the Speaking from Experience report — a landmark initiative shaped by the voices of over 300 people who’ve experienced workplace sexual harassment.
The report highlights what needs to change in Australian workplaces, especially for workers who face overlapping forms of discrimination — like racism, ableism, transphobia and migration-related barriers.
It includes 11 practical recommendations to help create safer, fairer and more respectful workplaces. One of them is to end the misuse of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), a reform we strongly support.
We stand with the contributors who courageously shared their stories to help shape real, lasting change.

As part of this initiative, the AHRC has also developed a suite of resources to support workers, employers, and advocates in taking action.
