The South Australian Working Women’s Centre in partnership with Westside Lawyers, the Legal Services Commission of South Australia and the Aboriginal Legal Right’s Movement are visiting Port Pirie, Port Augusta and Whyalla to provide workplace advice and education.
In each location, Abbey Kendall, Director and Principal Solicitor of the Working Women’s Centre SA, will present a free seminar on Sexual Harassment and Discrimination in the workplace, discussing developments in law and cultural reform.
In conjunction with our legal partners, we will hold a free walk-in legal advice clinic, where lawyers will be available to provide advice, information or referrals to help with attendees’ problems at work, and issues involving family law, child protection and domestic violence.
We will also hold a free training session for managers and HR advisors in Port Pirie, to provide participants with tools to recognise, prevent and respond to sexual harassment in the workplace, and to create a positive workplace culture, free from inappropriate behaviours.
In addition, we will meet with local service providers and leaders to set up warm referral pathways and discuss how our services can work together.
See the events below for more information and to register. If you live in the region and would like advice at a legal clinic, please use our online appointment form to book an appointment and we will be in touch with further details.

This event will have 2 parts –
1) Know your rights education session: We will take you through the basics of your rights at work. You will leave this session knowing more about your work rights in Australian workplaces. We will also tell you where you can go if you have questions or problems in the future.
2) Free Legal Advice Clinic: The Working Women’s Centre can offer free legal advice to international students, migrants, and refugees about work-related issues. Usually, one would have to go through an online or phone booking system but at our advice clinic you can simply walk up and ask our experienced advisors any questions you may have about your current or past working situations!
