Today we had the honour of attending the Wage Theft Is a Crime Chinatown peaceful protest which was coordinated by SA Labour Info Hub & Fair Go South Australia Inc.

say no to gendered violence and wage theft protest
We had a great turn out of people on the ground & media presence who captured the event, interviewing the organisers and exploited workers.
We heard powerful stories from workers who shared their lived experience of wage theft – being paid as low as $10 per hour or not at all & their bosses failing to pay them any superannuation. As well as stories of blackmail, threats from their employers & the impact that it has had on their lives.
Say Leng Kapsis & Jacky Chen speaking to Media in Adelaide

It’s clear that in defiance of this systematic treatment, these workers are ready to fight for justice & we will stand with you ✊🏽

They are not afraid to call out this treatment for what it is: theft, discrimination, and modern slavery.
The Working Womens centre and exploited workers at the Wage Theft is a Crime protest

The message is clear: Exploiting workers is not a valid business model.

Together we will not let up. This movement of resistance is only going to get bigger, stronger and even more organised.
